Back years ago, before my Aunt contracted alzheimers. My sister and I, along with my Mother were at my Aunt's house. My Mom
and Aunt were in the kitchen. My sister and I were in the living room. You can sit in the living room and look through
the dinning room, into the kitchen. We could clearly see them as they finished preparing dinner. We four, were the only living
souls there. Holding the door open was a large unusual rock my Aunt had found. Suddenly, the door flew shut. From the
hallway came the sound of a step, a dragging noise and a thud. My sister and I looked at each other, speechless. It sounded
like it was coming from the bathroom to the living room! It seemed that the steps stopped right in front of the open
door to my right. Nothing was there! I was feeling very uneasy and could tell my sister felt the same. We still had'nt said
a word. Then my Mom opened the dining room door and asked if we were ready to eat. After hearing grace, my sister
and I related what we had heard. My Aunt said it was the spirit of her Mother-in-law. She and her husband had built that very
house. Not only that, but Minnie, as my Aunt refered to her, had also died there. I remarked how strange it had sounded.
She said that Minnie had a clubfoot and had used an old cane chair to walk with. My Aunt said Minnie had been with her for
many years and she considered her good company! She said that Minnie would sometimes open and close doors, or hide small
objects, but that she had never felt threatened and had in fact often felt comforted by Minnie's presence.
